FAQs
Do I need a referral or can I contact you directly?
You can self-refer by contacting me by email or telephone. Referrals are also accepted by GP’s, Psychiatrists and other professionals.
How much does it cost?
An initial consultation is charged at €80 and I will ask you to set aside 60-80 mins for this. Fees for ongoing therapy will be discussed during this consultation and are on a sliding scale in the range of €70-€90. Fees will vary depending on whether you decide on individual or group therapy. The fee for group therapy is spread evenly over a twelve- month period and works out at approximately €50 per session. If you decide to engage in intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I am willing to discuss and agree a fee for higher frequency work such as twice weekly therapy.
How do I know whether a group or individual therapy is more suitable for me?
A number of individual sessions will take place before you begin in a group so this question can be explored. A group provides a greater sense of belonging. People who often feel alone in their distress come to realise that others share similar problems and this can be the source of much relief.
What happens if I know someone in the group?
This is a common worry but rarely happens in reality. Every effort is made to ensure that members of a group are not known to each other.
How can I be sure that what I talk about in the group will stay there?
Confidentiality is one of the central tenets of group therapy and group members know the importance of it and agree to maintain it.
